Please see Keith Williams update information on Medicare PPS Hospital Low Volume Adjustment for Federal Fiscal Year 2013. This addresses some confusion that arose last week about the potential of a March 1,2013 deadline that was in fact not the case.

Well, there is a lot of information and many discussions going on about the payment and qualification for the Medicare Low Volume Adjustment on PPS Hospitals for 2013. Last Friday the American Hospital Association sent out several emails and notes to member Hospitals stating that the Palmetto GBA MAC was telling the Hospitals that they had to have their request to apply or re-affirm their Low Volume status by March 1, 2013 in order to receive the full 12 months of payments. If the request or re-affirmation was not received by March 1 then the Hospitals would only receive the payments for ½ of the FFY 2013 period.

Based upon numerous request and emails today the Information from the AHA appears to be misstated. CMS has not yet published the data on the Low Volume Adjustment at this time. When CMS publishes the official notice we will inform all the Hospitals of the information and timelines needed.

Sorry for the confusion that was created.

Thanks, Keith
